11/01/08--20:33: NaNo'ing! (chan 2617974)




NaNoWriMo has begun! I am so excited! So far today, I've managed to write over 3,000 words, and counting! Since I have to write a total of 50,000 words in the next month, the average per day is 1700. I've exceeded that, and I plan to continue! Maybe I'll post my NaNo novel up here.... (shifty eyes) I should be writing! AH! (runs back to her computer screen and begins to type frantically while looking around in case any of the horror movies she watched last night had come true)

I can't believe all the writing I've been doing! I'm already at 8,195 words in two days! Wow! My muse just won't stop beating out words on the keyboard. It's completely awesome!

I just hope that this outpouring of inspiration won't stop. It's paused for the night; I've encountered momentary writer's block. It may end up that I hit a major block and can't write for a week. I hope that doesn't happen! I have to write!

I suppose this could be caused by my complete lack of literary writing in the past year or so. I've had lots of time to build up inspiration. But still! OVER 8,000 WORDS?!? That's more than I've written in two days in my LIF

I have just officially hit and passed the 10,000 word mark for NaNoWriMo! WHOOPEE!!! I can't believe I'm already a third of the way done. Hopefully this means that I'll have many, many more words by the time November is over. At the very least, this wordcount offers me a five-day buffer if I find sometime that I can't write for awhile, either from writer's block, a lack of computer time (courtesy of my dad), or schoolwork. Still, I'm SOOOO excited!!!

And, I have AWESOME news!! MY BROTHER IS ENGAGED!!! I just found out yesterday, and I'm utterly amazed! I'm so glad he finally popped the question! I'm going to have a sister-in-law!! OMIGOSH!

I'm feeling random. After having a day of utter terribleness and spitefulness and anger and depression (mostly on my part), I feel like releasing the inner me. So hear I go.

Life sucks. Especially life with Physics class. We got a test back, and it made my report card average drop 13%. And honestly, I don't frigging care if my friends just assume that my mark is sky-high. And are ignorant of the fact that I'm trying to save my frigging average by checking the answers, not "trying to get ANOTHER mark...". I'm not perfect, unfortunately. I try. Once more, I am writing a journal about NaNoWriMo. Did anyone see that coming?

I've passed 25,000! I'm over halfway there, and it's not even half way through the month. And I'm never going to finish my novel, but I will finish the 50K (due to the fact that 50K is not nearly enough to write a whole novel in; you need at least 150K).

Alright, so Alyssa (xXSilver-RoseXx)and I went to the NaNo Midway Bash in our area tonight, and we had an awesome time! This is a rather neutral moment for me; a minute ago, I was in agony... and before that, I was feeling excited about NaNo.

And now there's simply emptiness.

Maybe it's the effects of taking a lot of Advil in an attempt to get rid of the migraine that made it so I couldn't do anything except lay on my bed in the silent (or as silent as it gets in my house) darkness and try not to think too hard.

I hope my NaNoWriMo muse comes back, otherwise Alyssa-chan will get ahead of me. She probably will anyway. We're at 37,000 (with her at 37,020, and me at 37,511), and she plans on breaking 40,

Guess what, everyone who actually cares? I won NaNoWriMo!!! I wrote over 50,000 words in a month! My word count is currently 53,118. My novel is nowhere near finished, though...

Anyways, this whole thing came on spontaneously when Alyssa and I randomly decided to attend the all-night write-in put on by our NaNoWriMo region. It went from 6pm to 6am on Friday, at the Denny's in the city. We were up all night, writing and doing word wars. It was so much fun! In the end, Alyssa and I wrote over 15,000 words apiece and came out as NaNo winners!! We're so excited to be able to validate our novels and win officially.

You want to know what's absolutely stupid and maddening? My dad has randomly decided to start 'charging' us for every time we leave a light on in the house. And now he's saying I owe him two dollars for supposedly leaving the garage light on when I was taking the vehicle out. How the FRIG am I supposed to know that the frigging light is on when it turns on automatically when you open the stupid garage door!? But of course, it doesn't matter to him. I've officially discovered that I'm going to utterly fail my piano exam. Woopdedoo.

I hate frigging technique. I feel like shooting whoever came up with the idea to make pianists play freaking four-octave scales at hyperspeed. And now, because of them, I'm going to fail my exam.

Today was quickly becoming one of the greatest days in the entire new year. It would've been about time for me to have a purely great day, but I guess I'm not allowed to be ecstatic for more than a few minutes.

So my awesome sister, :devDarkShadow97:, drew an absolutely amazing cover for my upcoming book, The Children of Lamme. I drew a title, and we put them all together after Photoshopping in some colour and all that. It looks so good, I feel like my book is actually there, in my hands. It's a great feeling.

It has come to my attention recently that one of my poems has been copied and posted on another website under another person's name. No credit was given to me as an author. This is essentially art theft. I myself have been accused of plagiarising my own poem because of this other website. It is incredibly hurtful to be told that someone does not believe you created something that you poured your heart and soul into forming.

So I've managed to work out most of the problem surrounding the copyright infringement of my poem, and I am still contemplating the removal of my poetry. But, for the time being, I only have to remove the poem that was copied, because the contest I entered with it is publishing it in a book of poetry, and they've asked that I remove it from the site until the book is printed. Then I can repost it.

I hate being sick. It's kind of sad how I've only missed half a day of school since I got diagnosed with viral bronchitis. Fun, isn't it? My dad had to order me to stay home for that half day, so we could go to the doctor. And now, my voice is pretty much gone from all the coughing I've been doing, which is just great. (I have talent show auditions today, but I can't sing at all without sandpaper scraping down my throat....)

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

So my librarian found the most AMAZING site ever, and it had a sale going on for all manga titles in stock... 99 CENTS APIECE! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!?!?! AND HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO RESIST? And so, in my excitement and foresight (and utter lack of common sense, but that's beside the point...), I bought... a LOT of them. Let's just say that my manga collection has doubled, for a tenth of the price it should have cost. How's that for awesomeness? I'M SO EXCITED!!! (And I thought my Naruto box set was a good deal... ^^)

I've had to stay home for two whole days from school.

So I went to the local Comic Expo this weekend, and it ROCKED. (I spent WAY too much money, though... They sold manga, so I couldn't help myself... My Otafest fund is beginning to drop.... D: ) I got to meet the actors for Neville Longbottom from Harry Potter (he's so awesome! And so funny! I love his accent! :love: ^^) and Ando from Heroes! So happy about that! And then, the 404s (an improv comedy group) 'performed' for us, and it was great. You know all those improv games you play in drama class in high school? Yeah. They played those onstage. Wow, I haven't updated in awhile.... But, anyway.

Otafest went AWESOME last weekend. I got new manga and six anime posters (even though I didn't really have the money to spend..... [looks at her now sorrily empty bank account in sorrow])! I got to watch the cosplay and the 404s (an improv troupe; SO amazingly funny!). So it's FINALLY SUMMER! I can't believe that Grade Eleven is already over..... It's been such a short year. I'm going to be a Grade Twelve next year........ (faints)

It has been a long time, hasn't it? I feel rather strange that I haven't had much activity since May... But ah, well. This summer WAS rather stressful and full, after all.

First of all, this little thing of 'graduation'. Now, I know that absolutely no one would expect that to be a major event in my life (:P), but it was big. Not to mention writing five diplomas in the span of two weeks afterwards.

Then I managed to get my wisdom teeth out, which caused all manner of problems (the least of which was bleeding and being unable to play my instrument for a good month, as well as pain during my week-long camp not a week after...)

I am very happy today. :3 For the first time in all the years I've been submitting poetry and stories, I've finally won something! (dances)

My short story, "The Bench", won second place in the Poetry Institute of Canada's student short story contest, and is going to be published in an anthology this year. It makes me so happy to finally have gotten something. I guess there's something to be said for years of persistence, neh?

On another note, I am very pleased to announce that I'm going to be a Municipal Liaison in this November's upcoming NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). If you're one of the poor souls who has no idea what NaN

So, for those of you who care, my NaNoWriMo novel is coming along very nicely (if you consider the fact that I'm half way into Week Two and almost at 50k already!). I hit 40k tonight, which makes me VERY happy. In spite of tendinitis and a strained shoulder muscle that are causing me immense amounts of pain, I am persevering!

When I was just a little girl, I asked my mother, "What will I be? Will I be pretty? Will I be pretty? Will I be pretty? What comes next? Oh right, will I be rich?" Which is almost pretty depending on where you shop. And the pretty question infects from conception, passing blood and breath into cells. The word hangs from our mothers' hearts in a shrill fluorescent floodlight of worry.

I had some fun with Cleverbot (www.cleverbot.com) last night, and thought I'd share. Because I enjoy being nonsensical while still sounding strangely logical. It starts halfway through the conversation, because I didn't start recording it until then. Before that, it had something to do with unicorns, hamsters inside computers, and magic.

It is my conclusion that Cleverbot is a chat interface that randomly switches between users at intervals of about ten seconds, making all the conversations jump around and making everyone else believe they're talking to a computer program.

Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh....

Akita is a hater of sicknesses. Sicknesses steal Akita's voice for days and then render Akita's ability to function basically moot. Sicknesses force Akita to stay in bed even when she feels she'll die of boredom and lack of breathing ability. But most of all, sicknesses render Akita unable to focus on her history essay due in two days.
